Boutique hotels bring imagination to South Bay.(Company Business and Marketing)

The makers of quirky boutique properties like Phoenix Hotel, Backflip, Costanoa and Acqua Hotel, are on another expansion tear, this time in the South Bay.

The tres chic Joie de Vivre Hospitality is expected to open three more hotels in Silicon Valley by year's end, according to company officials. Chairman and CEO Chip Conley's Joie de Vivre recently opened Wild Palms Hotel, a 208-room property in Sunnyvale, and the 80-room Moorpark Hotel in San Jose. The company also plans to open Hotel Los Gatos, a 72-room lodging in Los Gatos, by first quarter. 2002, says Joie de Vivre's vice president of creative services, Rob Delamater.
