The winners of the 22nd Luigi Russolo International Composition Competition were announced on 24 September 2000. The awards ceremony and the performance of the award-winning works took place at the Civico Liceo Musicale in Varese, Italy.
This annual competition is open to young composers of electronic and computer music.
In Category A, the first prize was awarded to Judith Ring (Ireland) for Accumulation. Second prize went to Ching-Chiang Liu (Taiwan) for Zuruck--bleiben bitte and third prize to Daniel Mayer (Austria) for Study in computer aided sound synthesis. Mentions were also made of Theodore Lotis (Greece) for Shadows, of Frederic Kahn (France) for Bref eloge du coup de tonnerre et du bruit d'aile, and of Ivana Busu (Italy) for Kaleidos.
