KOLKATA, June 15. THE edible oil industry of West Bengal is of the view that the number of unorganised rice hullers in the State is many times more than the officially claimed figure of 10,000.

Representatives of Eastern India Oil & Trade Association have recently met the officials of the West Bengal Government in the Agriculture and Industry Departments and apprised them of the situation. According to them, modernisation of these unorganised rice hulling unit was most important for the edible oil industry. Mr Ashok Sethia, Chairman of the association, said the rice milling industry was not so developed in West Bengal compared to that in the rest of the country …
