IPC Media has released its interim results for the six months ending 31 March 2001. Total revenues rose 3.3 per cent to 182.4 million [pounds sterling], with advertising revenues up by 6.9 per cent. Operating margins rose from 16.7 per cent to 17.3 per cent. Operating income climbed 6.8 per cent to 31.6 million [pounds sterling]
The shortlist for the pan-European Skoda pitch has been reduced to FCB and Leagas Delaney in Hamburg. DDB and the incumbent, Grey, are no longer in the running.
KLP Euro RSCG has promoted Phil Bourne to the role of chief executive. Bourne, previously the managing director, replaces Iain Ferguson, who has moved to a global role at Euro RSCG but will continue as chairman of KLP Euro RSCG.
Edge, the integrated agency chaired by Ron Leagas, is claiming a 5 million [pounds sterling] billings boost following its appointment by Avis to promote car rental deals for visitors to the US, and by GB Airways, the British Airways franchise partner, to develop its services to southern Spain and North Africa.
English Heritage has drawn up a shortlist for its account. Leith London, Clemmow Hornby, Fallon and a joint effort between Chime's agencies HHCL & Partners and Girardot Partners, will fight it out for the business.
The Advertising Standards Authority will not appoint a successor to Tony Butler, its deputy director-general, who retired last week. Butler, a former civil servant,who had been carrying out a review of the ASA's processes, concluded that the job was no longer necessary.
