Optimedia has regained its pan-European Polo Ralph Lauren media business after losing the account in a global realignment three years ago.
The agency prised control of the fashion empire's planning and buying business, estimated to be worth 12 million [pounds sterling], from the incumbent Carat following a round of meetings earlier this year.
Optimedia had held the account in the mid-90s before losing it to DDB Needham in an attempted global realignment in August 1998. That experiment lasted less than a year, with Carat International Paris stepping in to scoop up a pan-European planning and buying task in May 1999. The account currently spends about 2 million [pounds sterling] annually in the UK.
