The Plastics and Fibres Division of German BASF Group generated around onethird of group turnover of EUR 35.95 bn in 2000 and around a quarter of total results of EUR 3.4 bn.

The company targets total investments of EUR 2.5 bn within the next 5 years with the aim to increase the operating result by 10% on average during 2000-2002.

BASF expanded its position in the growth markets Asia and Latin America.

Investments will primarily target the expansion of isocyanate capacities (MDI/TDI) particularly in North America, Korea and China (details given).
