Mobile phone operators may be given more time to boost services.

THE Government may extend the grace period given to mobile operators to improve their services if there is a significant surge in traffic due to a boost in handphones demand.

Energy, Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary general Halim Shafie said these operators know the Government is monitoring them and they have committed investments to further improve their services.

"But it takes time to see improvement. The grace period may be extended if the Communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC) finds an extension to be fair," he told reporters after officiating an energy workshop in Subang Jaya yesterday.
