Big spaces, reasonable rents and less congestion are drawing Seattle arts organizations into the South Lake Union area as an alternative to Pioneer Square.

"I would not want to be in Pioneer Square," said Greg Lundgren, founder of Vital 5 Productions. "There's a tremendous amount of momentum (in South Lake Union) right now."

Since his gallery opened earlier this year, Lundgren has seen a steady growth in visitors to the 3,500-square-foot facility 2200 Westlake Ave.
