Hybridon, Inc. (HYBN) has presented data from two studies focusing on the company's CpG-like oligonucleotides (Hybridon IMOs) designed to modulate the immune system, for use as vaccine adjuvants or used alone to stimulate the immune system.
The presentation was made at the First Annual Meeting of the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies held in Boston, Massachusetts, held May 4-7, 2001.
"By systematically studying the relationship between structure and activity, Hybridon scientists discovered that not only the CpG motif, but also chemical modifications of the surrounding regions influenced effects on the immune system," said R. Russell Martin, MD, Hybridon. "Furthermore, Hybridon scientists have identified that synthetic nucleotide motifs, referred to as YpG(TM) and CpR(TM), also have immunostimulatory activity," Martin added.
Y and R are synthetically produced pyrimidine and purine bases. The Hybridon IMOs are synthetic oligonucleotides that ...
