2001 MAY 24- (NewsRx Network) -- Vitamin C has been shown to reverse preeclampsia, according to a new British study.
Six researchers, led by Dr. John C. Chambers of London's Imperial College School of Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, studied the effects of vitamin C on preeclampsia, a condition that can cause birth complications. Participating in the study program were 161 women, including 113 who had previous preeclampsia and 48 women with previous uncomplicated pregnancies. All had given birth at least three months previously, with a median of three years since delivery.
Vitamin C was administered intravenously, and it was determined that the vitamin intake improved blood flow in the group of women who had suffered from preeclampsia.
