As some mutual fund companies are announcing job cuts, Zurich Scudder Investments said it will add 100 jobs to its Boston office. A Zurich Scudder official said the jobs would be created by reassigning fund analysts and their support staff from New York to Boston.
Zurich Scudder's move follows two disappointing years for the mutual fund firm, and comes amid rumors that its Swiss parent company has put Scudder on the block.
Laura Trumble, a Zurich Scudder spokeswoman, said the staff will be moved to Boston in stages beginning in the fall. The consolidation, Trumble said, is aimed at putting all the firm's analysts in one place.
