India: I&B Ministry mulls bringing publicity units under one roof.
NEW DELHI, May 22. THE Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry is considering the option of bringing the Directorate of Field Publicity and Song and Drama Division under one roof as part of its 'rightsizing' strategies.
Sources in the Ministry told Business Line that the divisions had overlapping functions. "The two departments are involved in field publicity, organising exhibitions and, most importantly, keeping people in the far- flung areas informed of the various Governmental programmes and activities. By bringing the departments together, the size of the Ministry can be brought down," they said.
