A RECORD number of 26 entries from nine countries will rev up for the Asian Formula 2000 races starting with the free practice at the Pasir Gudang circuit in Johor today.

However, none are locals, unlike last year when two Malaysians competed in the series held at circuits throughout South-East Asia and China, and one, Ng Wai Leong, emerged as the champion.

Fortunately, the Asian F2000 sister event, the Asian Touring Car Championship has one Malaysian competitor in Mohamed Fariqe Haruman, who will drive a Honda Civic EK4 Team Petronas.
