Starbucks Coffee Co. is about to give Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp. a jolt.

Compaq has signed a $100 million deal with Seattle-based Starbucks to provide Internet services and hardware to the coffee maker's retail stores and corporate headquarters. Compaq, one of the world's largest computer companies, signed a five-year strategic agreement with Starbucks to create a high-speed connected environment in about 2,800 Starbucks locations nationwide.

It won't be long, say Starbucks officials, until customers can access broadband services through Compaq's wireless devices -- namely it's iPAQ Pocket PC -- or their own wireless devices while visiting a local …
