Shelby pricing revisited

Shelby American has announced a base price of $142,000 for its Shelby Series 1 supercar, and a top price of $215,000 for a model powered by a supercharged version of the Olds-mobile Aurora V8 engine. Prices for the limited-edition sports car are up from the original asking price of $99,975. In addition to the supercharged version, which reportedly produces up to 440 horsepower (AW, April 10, 2000), Shelby will offer a 370-hp X-50 model for $166,000 and an X-50 Special Edition for $185,000.

Six-speed TL

Acura's 3.2TL Type-S, up to now only available with a five-speed automatic, will soon be available with a six-speed manual. Expect the new transmission to be available later this year.

Lotus drops M250

Lotus is canceling plans to build the 2002 M250 mid-engined sports car planned for production this year. Lotus dealers have been informed that potential buyers-many in the States-should be refunded their deposits on the $55,000 car.
