Mr Deepak Dheer, Managing Director of Tudor India has opined that cheap imports from South-East Asian countries are mainly responsible for the Indian manufacturers to sell batteries at a reduced priced of about 33% since 1998.

The IBMA has sought Government of India to reduce the customs duty on the raw materials like lead and separators, which are expensive in India.
