Although businesses benefit greatly from referrals, how many actually have a system to cultivate them? People who refer your company to others have a passion for your company and love to spread the word to their circle of friends.
Cultivate these folks by identifying them. Write down their names, and develop a plan to stay in touch monthly. Call them, e-mail them, send "thank you" notes, tickets to events, take them to lunch. Show them how much you appreciate their referrals. Doing so will encourage them to keep sending business your way. And make sure to review that list every six months.
