Dunkin' Donuts cuts out while Donut King fills the hole; LaMar's enters market, Krispy Kreme considers expansion

St. Louis is a great doughnut town, just ask Mark Levine.

"Everybody here loves doughnuts," said Levine, a partner in the Levine Group, which owns the rights to develop the LaMar's Donuts franchise in the St. Louis region.

Perhaps. But as LaMar's begins to invade the local market and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. considers expansions, industry king Dunkin' Donuts is shrinking its local presence. Four of its six area franchise stores took down the Dunkin' Donuts sign April 17 and became Donut Kings instead.
