CAMBRIDGE--Nuvera Fuel Cells Inc.'s search for a profitable fuel cell market is powering a joint venture with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. of Japan.

Last week, Nuvera and Mitsui announced a partnership that the firms hope will eventually lead to the production, distribution and service of fuel cell power systems for residential and commercial buildings in Japan. Initially, Nuvera plans to develop the prototype and conduct field tests as part of a feasibility study. Mitsui's role will include creating a marketing strategy and obtaining licensing agreements.
