How do you know when you've finally met your p perfect match? Cosmo clues you in to the subconscious signs that reveal he's Mr. Right.

* You're riveted by every word that leaves his luscious lips, his slightest touch sends tingling sensations down your spine, and you share the same taste in everything from music to beer In fact, you think he's damn near perfect. But is he The One? Your soul mate, the guy you dreamed about when you were 11? Yes!You think, Yes!Butthen again...how can you be sure? The key may be tapping into your innermost self. "Your psyche can give you more insight than your conscious mind does," says Elaine Aron, Ph.D., author of The Highly Sensitive Person in Love, because it sends instinctual signals before your internal editor takes over, "Once you intellectualize feelings, your mind gets caught up in the dynamics of a relationship and misses important yet subtle signs that determine if your match is sincere." Thankfully, dipping into your subconscious doesn't require a $100-an-hour shrink. All it takes is a closer look at everything--from your dreams to your day-to-day attitude. Here, Cosmo helps you dig through the cata combs of your cranium to discover if the guy in your life is fated for you or merely a man of the moment.

MR. RIGHT INSIGHT 1

He Has a Starring Role in Your Dreams

The context of your shut-eye reveries can help you figure out your Is he or isn't he? dilemma. Dreams are the lie detectors of your soul. They excavate your psyche and reveal emotions that you might be overlooking or ignoring. "Your waking mind doesn't process your feelings as clearly as your sleeping mind does," says Rosemarie Schultz, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and dream-interpretation expert. It can pick up on feelings that your intellect might be missing because you are stressed, busy, or just don't want to admit the truth to yourself," she says. Understanding your nocturnal love stories is often a matter of looking at, the role your man plays in your dreams because that is how you truly see him, explains Schultz.

If you get a negative vibe during mind movies featuring your man, it could spell a short run, says Shari Just, Ph.D., co author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Interpreting Your Dreams The plot could be as scary as his being attacked by an animal or as subtle as his eating a food you would never eat (for example, a hamburger if you're a vegetarian).

On the other hand, blissful dreams about your guy could be your cue that he's your destiny. Betsy [*], 26, a public-relations rep from Brattleboro, Vermont, had a vivid dream about her then monthlong boyfriend that sealed the deal for her. "Chris and I were swimming to the center of a deserted lake. I fell behind him and started to panic. But became back, grabbed me, and pulled me to safety," she recalls. Just says the dream was Betsy's subconscious mind's way of testing their bond: Will Chris be there for her in tough times? This dream shows she has already learned to trust that he will be--even if she didn't realize it before. This connection has carried over into their waking life too--their relationship has been going swimmingly for more than a year.
