Cast-ivating Concert
It takes a lot to stop Sweet November star Keanu Reeves from pursuing his true passion-rock music. The actor bruised his left ankle during martial-arts training for the sequels to The Matrix and briefly had to wear a cast, but he still hobbled out to Jam with members of his band, Dogstar. When Reeves showed up for the gig, all his bandmates were wearing casts-one guy had even put a cast around the end of his guitar. Keanu couldn't help laughing despite his agony.
ETHAN'S Dirty Ditty
Ethan Hawke has been known for his raunchy writing in the past, but now it's a song that's getting attention...or a lack of it. The actor-cum-author wanted to contribute the song "I'm Nuthin'" (that he belted out for the 1994 Reality Bites sound track) to Hollywood Goes Wild! an album featuring songs sung by such celebrities as Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis, and Russell Crowe. (Proceeds from this star CD benefit Wildlife Waystation, an animal sanctuary just north of L.A.) But Hawke was told the album's producers didn't want to use his song. "It's a clean record to help charity, and [Ethan's] lyrics just weren't appropriate. He was singing about drugs," says a producer. Just how bad were the lyrics? You be the judge:
