David Dignam and Robert Segur have a lot in commmon.

They have jobs. They have school-age children. And they have histories of civic involvement.

The two Republicans also are the only two announced candidates for the Charlotte County School Board District 3 seat. The seat is held by Mac Horton, who is running for the County Commission this year.

The two Englewood residents agree that, no matter who wins, the school district will benefit.

"The kids can't lose no matter who wins," Segur said.

Segur and Dignam said they jumped into the race, in large part, because they have children and want to help keep the district improving in all areas. While they praised the current board and …
