Listen to the way Beth Reed talks about her 8-year-old son Randy and you'd never guess it.

He gets As and Bs in his third-grade class at Gulf Gate Elementary. He's an avid computer junkie and loves to jump on his trampoline in his back yard.

But Randy has a congenital vision disease which has left him with very little sight.

For Randy and other students like him, 71 year-old Norma Marcum is a hero.

Marcum and other members of the Sarasota County Braille Transcribers lend their eyes, fingers and time to enable visually impaired students to keep up with their peers - and be like everyone else. …
