The county will probably offer far less money than originally expected for the South Venice Volunteer Fire Department's equipment.

Sarasota County Fire Chief John Albritton said Tuesday that his department's representatives "overestimated" the value of two trucks, according to other appraisers.

The county also will not pay for equipment purchased after the county began administering South Venice's expenses through a special taxing district, and some equipment it just doesn't need.

That means county staff will probably ask the County Commission to offer about $150,000 for two fire trucks, hoses, nozzles, …
