With a vote on new school-attendance boundaries a month away, the battle lines are clear.

In the north, it's Colonial Oaks against Forest Lakes. In the south, it's the Pinebrook subdivision facing South Venice.

Then there's Myakka Valley, which simply wants to be left alone.

It became clear Thursday night that one neighborhood's victory would be another's loss, as parent after parent filed up to the microphone to address the School Board during the last of two public hearings on redistricting and school choice.
