The Kansas developer who claims to own the John Ringling Towers asked the Sarasota City Commission on Monday night to issue an order to demolish the structure.

As the meeting stretched into the wee morning hours, community leaders such as Rolland Heiser and Arland Christ-Janer, of Gateway 2000, asked the Commission to act so a Ritz-Carlton hotel could be built on the Sarasota bayfront.
