The stage may be set for the demolition of the John Ringling Towers.
City Commissioner Jerome Dupree has concluded that because restoration work on the Towers was not completed by its deadline a year ago, it may be time to knock it down.
His decision means he joins commissioners Mollie Cardamone and Nora Patterson in creating a majority of support for demolishing the historic building.
"The responsibility for us is to determine whether or not the John Ringling (Centre) Foundation has actually done what they were supposed to . . . Based on what I have seen they have not done it," Dupree said Monday. …
