About 75 friends and family members of C. Shepley Cleaves gathered for his 90th birthday May 31 in Centennial Hall at the Port Charlotte Cultural Center.

He was crowned "Mayor of Port Charlotte" by former County Commissioner Steve Bostwick and was lauded for his years of community service by Norma Powers of Punta Gorda, who also served as a president of the Friends of the Auditorium. Cleaves played the piano and led a sing-along, as he had done for years at the center that he served for 23 years as a board member/trustee.
