The Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club celebrated its 70th birthday Monday and congratulations rolled in from various dignitaries, including President Bill Clinton.

In a signed note from the White House to club president Ian MacRae, the President expressed his congratulations and best wishes to the local organization.

State Representative Shirley Brown presented a proclamation from Gov. Lawton Chiles.

County Commissioner David Mills also attended the luncheon and read a proclamation from the Sarasota County Commission recognizing the club as one of the oldest continuous clubs in the county. Sarasota County, …
