In the five years since the Charlotte County School District mapped out its first technology plan, every classroom has been wired for Internet access, computer labs have sprouted up in most schools, and students have begun using computers in all subject areas and all grade levels.

The five-year technology plan is entering its final few months, with a number of projects still to be concluded before June.

By the end of the year, all schools are expected to reach the district's baseline standard of one computer for every six students. Most schools are already there, but Port Charlotte Middle School, for example, needs another 20 computers to reach its goal.
