India: CESC incurs Rs 98-crore loss.

KOLKATA: CESC Ltd, an RPG utility outfit, incurred a loss of about Rs 98 crore in 2000-01 on a total sales turnover of Rs 1,899 crore (unaudited), against a net loss of Rs 71 crore on a turnover of Rs 1,781 crore in 1999-2000.

The net loss during the three months ended March 2001 was about Rs 34 crore, against the net loss of Rs 17 crore during the same period the previous year.

The net loss in the just ended fiscal was well above the company's paid-up capital of Rs 58 crore (shares of Rs 10 each). The CESC board, which met here on Monday, indicated that the results for 2000-01 might undergo some changes on the basis of any future award by the West Bengal …
