An Audi A4 Avant (wagon) variant is expected to debut in October after the Frankfurt Motor Show. It will have a longer wheelbase than the sedan and a large loading platform.

Audi didn't talk about the wagon when it unveiled the new A4 sedan at the New York show earlier this month, but the company did disclose part of the future: a 30-valve, 220-horsepower, 3.0-liter aluminum block V6 that will be offered on the 2002 A4. Audi also plans to roll out an A4-based convertible in spring 2002.
