It seems no one can write a story about Scottish art-rock outfit Mogwai without mentioning that lo-fi rock god Stephen Malkmus of Pavement has said they are already the "best band of the 21st century," so I'm going to try to be the first.

Wait a minute...Damn!

Oh well, it saves me from having to go out on a limb but still gets the point across: at their best, the five lads (although there were six on stage Tuesday) in Mogwai manage to make pretty much all the other young bands navigating the post-alternative waters seem like mere pretenders.
