Cupholders: No matter how often we use them, something rubs us the wrong way about seeing those two pop-out contraptions in the dash of our long-term Porsche Boxster S. There should be a dictum written somewhere prohibiting cupholders in sports cars.

We found a couple of other minor things to quibble about with our sportiest long-termer, including the memory driver seat that resets its position every time the car is turned off. For a one-driver car, that wouldn't pose a problem, but with different people taking the helm on different days, our Boxster S has squished its fair share of tall drivers.

Then there's that plastic backlight. It's a bear to defrost when the thermo-meter dips below freezing-which, with an average temperature of 19 degrees F, meant all of December.

And boy did December hit hard, dumping 25.1 inches of the white stuff over One AutoWeek Tower. But our Boxster S was a trooper, ...
