Waiting for the 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will pay off for patient customers. They will be rewarded with more horsepower-405 hp vs. 385 hp for the 2001 model. The 20-hp bump also is 5 horsepower more than Chevy had originally expected from the latest work to the LS6 5.7-liter V8. Standard, non-Z06 models produce 350 hp.

According to sources in General Motors, the next Z06 engine benefits from revised engine valve springs and camshaft, and improved exhaust flow. Chevy will tout it as the fastest, lightest and most powerful Corvette ever produced.
