As every Texan knows, March 2 marked an auspicious day in Lone Star history.

Indeed, it was 1.65 years ago last week that the legendary Gen. Sam Houston joined a crowd of his fellow Texans, disgruntled over their treatment at the hands of Mexico, and uttered the inspiring message, "I think I'll have another drink."

Of course, they all later went out and declared independence.
