A MORE effective mechanism for the approval and disbursement of funds is necessary to ensure that more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are able to deploy information technology (IT).

According to the SMI Association of Malaysia, current efforts in disseminating information about the available incentives are rather inadequate, which result in the poor uptake of funds among SMEs.

Its president Looi Teong Chye said the existing structure ought to be revised and studied to ensure a smoother funding process.
