Brunei: Sultan joins people in New Year gathering.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday joined hundreds of his citizens to observe the new Islamic Year of 1422 Hijrah at the Jame Asr' Hassanil Bolkiah mosque in Kiarong.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.
His Majesty was greeted on his arrival at the mosque by the Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Hj Awg Md. Zain. The ceremony began with the reading of the Holy Quran by Awg Hj Mahrub followed by its interpretation.
