Immunex Corp. has paid $6 million for a slice of land toward the middle of Pier 89 on the Seattle waterfront, taking full ownership of the pier, King County property records show.

The Seattle biotechnology company paid a total of slightly more than $41 million for the pier in four separate transactions beginning in September, according to property records. Immunex's purchase of the final piece of land, from the Smith Cove Partnership, closed Feb. 28.

Pier 89 is immediately adjacent to Terminal 88, where Immunex recently broke ground on its $750 million waterfront campus. The company has said it will use the pier for growth beyond the planned campus.
