MUMBAI, March 23. WORLD wheat production in 2001-02 is forecast at 575 million tonnes (m.t.) as compared to 581 m.t. during the current year, based on the information currently available. Unfavourable weather and/or low prices are expected to lead to significant reductions in sown areas and reduced output in some important producing regions including the EC, the US, Turkey, India and Pakistan, the London-based International Grains Council (IGC) said in its latest grain market report.
