More than 300 patients who used fibrinogen blood products manufactured by the defunct Green Cross Corp. later contracted hepatitis, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

The pharmaceutical company, which was held criminally liable for selling unheated blood products that caused hepatitis C, is now part of Welfide Corp.

Previously, the company had reported to the former Health and Welfare Ministry that only about 100 patients had developed symptoms of hepatitis.

Alarmed by the gravity of the situation, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry last month ordered the company to conduct further research into the number of cases in which use of the product led …
