Samsung debuts high-speed data handset at CDMA2000.(Product Announcement)

SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS has taken the wraps off two new cellular handsets for the South Korean market. They are thin, lightweight, and pack a powerful data punch.

The SPH-X110 and SPH-X120 are designed to work on existing CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) networks and on so-called 2.5G networks, based on CDMA2000 technology and launched late last year in South Korea as upgrades to the existing networks. The CDMA2000 network offers data at speeds up to 144Kbps and is dubbed a 2.5G network because it is half way between a conventional second-generation, digital-cellular network and the new third-generation (3G) networks that will be built shortly.
