Just as tourists are logging on to web sites such as priceline.com and travelocity.com to plan their vacations, meeting planners are now turning to -- or turning on -- their computers to plan meetings and conferences.

Whether you are a seasoned meeting planner, or the occasional planner in an association or corporation who is assigned with the next meeting site, the Internet is definitely the newest tool available to the hospitality/meeting planning industry.

One meeting, planning web site alone reports it has more than 80,000 "user sessions" a month. Additionally, more than 5,600 request for proposals (RFPs) were sent to meeting facilities during 2000, representing more than 1 million room nights.

Industry sites such as plansoft.com, starcite.com and hotrateshotdates.com are offering user-friendly products and services …
