Controversial Napster spins more than tunes.

Redwood City-based Napster attempted to put a positive spin on a week of bad news when it announced on Wednesday that, while it had not come to an agreement with any additional record companies, it had been presenting them with a $1 billion revenue-sharing plan for the last six months. Note to Napster PR team: It's only news once they say yes.

"I have so many cool things in development, and I want to be able to bring them to the Napster community," said Napster creator Shawn Fanning, in a prepared statement (that somehow also slipped past the savvy publicists).
