THIS IS AN AWESOME CAR/TRUCK. Overall, I am more comfortable in the Escape than I was in the Explorer. I have more room up front. The moonroof didn't take away that much headroom. It rides great and my five-year-old has plenty of room in the back. This truck responds well to instant needs for speed.

Things I would change: less road noise, shorter gear selector, cargo mat (where is it? Oh, it is a $120 dealer accessory) and longer front seatbottoms.

IT CORNERS WITH TRUE CAR-LIKE characteristics and I can maneuver around town as well as in my Acura RL. The Duratec V6 engine has excellent acceleration with just the right amount of sound coming from under the hood. The fit-and-finish is of high quality and so far it is completely devoid of any squeaks or rattles. The manual cloth seats are surprisingly comfortable with as high a seating position as in larger SUVs. The design of the cargo area allows for ample space to carry my belongings, and the rear seats fold down out of the way much easier than in some SUVs I considered.

The only dislikes are the slightly loud, but not objectionable road noise, and the shifter on the steering column, which blocks the view of some controls.
