Introducing nine fabulous forces in movies, music, and more---plus our Fun Fearless Female of the year: These women wowed us with their awesome achievements and garnered Cosomo's highest honors.
IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM, women continued to kick butt in a big way in the world of entertainment. The fierce femme flick Charlie's Angels exploded onto the big screen, Madonna made the chart-topper Music and became a mother for the second time, and the can't-miss series Sex and the City further forced the female libido into the limelight. And that was just part of the fun.
And unlike another election, when the editors of Cosmo cast their votes for the Fun Fearless Female Awards, the winners were clear and uncontested! No wonder. The accomplishments of this awesome group range from starring in an Em my-winning TV show to bagging a Tony for Broadway's best actress in a musical to Surviving the biggest media frenzy of the summer. But that's only a small glimpse of their greatness. Check out the other incredible reasons these women are walking away with Cosmo's top title.
DREA DE MATTEO
Most admired moll
DREA TOOK A ONE-LINE, ONE-EPISODE PART on the HBO hit series The Sopranos and so captivated viewers with her dead-on portrayal of a mobster's girlfriend that the show's producers had her join the family permanently as Adriana, Christopher's hard-ass honey. We're about to get an even bigger dose of the actress's allure when she hits the big screen this spring in two movies, Deuces Wild and Made. But the ambitious 28-year-old isn't content loafing about with just one red-hot career--she and her beau have their own vintage-meets-trendy clothing store, Filth Mart, in Manhattan. That may explain why she has such a brassy bombshell style--Adriana wears cash-vaunting Versace, but the size-4 Drea prefers rocker-chick tee shirts, worn skimpily enough to show some serious skin (which happens to be tattooed with names, including her mother's, father's, and grandmother's). "They go crazy on the set," she says. "Every time I show up, I have a new tattoo that they have to cover with makeup." The best part of her life? "I g et to act every day," she says, adding, "first class doesn't suck either."
