JAPAN'S TEXTILE MAKERS SEEK ANTI-DUMPING DUTY ON POLYESTER FIBER.
TOKYO, March 1 Asia Pulse - Teijin Ltd. (TSE: 3401), Toray Industries Inc. (TSE: 3402) and three other textile makers announced Wednesday they formally asked the Ministry of Finance to levy an anti-dumping duty on certain types of short polyester fiber manufactured by South Korean and Taiwanese rivals.
If approved, the tax would mark the second case of anti-dumping action in the textile sector, following similar moves against Pakistani cotton thread.
The move comes just two days after Japanese towel makers urged the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to invoke the so-called safeguard clause - an emergency measure to limit imports when a surge in imports is found to be injuring domestic industries - ...
