2001 FEB 22 - (NewsRx.com) -- An analysis of data from the 1996/97 National Population Health Survey shows continued low use of mammography among certain sub-groups of women.
Dr. Colleen Maxwell and colleagues recommended screening every two years for women aged 50-69, according to their report in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. The authors found that only 53.6% of Canadian women in this age group had received a mammogram in the previous two years, and more than one-quarter (28.2%) did not intend to have one in the next two years. Overall, 79.1% of the women in this age group had a mammogram at some time.
