TOKYO--NTT DoCoMo Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. announced a joint research effort aimed at improving multimedia delivery and network applications over fourth-generation wireless broadband networks. The companies are calling their 4G multimedia architecture Moto-Media.

The technology is expected to enable high-perforinance streaming of multimedia content to mobile users based on agent technology, optimal use of network resources and scalable media coding methods. The collaboration will also explore new mobile service concepts, in which people, places and things would be able to interact.
