The National Library of Ireland in Dublin purchased an autographed manuscript of the Circe chapter of James Joyce's 1922 novel Ulysses for $1.5 million at Christie's auction house in New York December 13. The 27 pages, which diverge from other known versions, describe the nightmarish experiences of Leopold Bloom and Stephen Daedalus in the red-light district of Dublin, the New York Times reported December 20.
